Our Mission


A WARM, FRIENDLY PLACE
Ronald McDonald House Charities® provides a "home away from home", a refuge, for families who are trying to cope with the physical, emotional and financial burdens of having a seriously ill child. Parents do not have to sleep in hospital waiting rooms or bear the expense and loneliness of motel lodging. At the House they have an extended family - other house guests - who are experiencing some of the same fears and concerns and who are able to offer emotional support and a sympathetic ear.

We strive to be part of the solution in positively improving the lives of children and their families. The Central Valley Ronald McDonald House serves 9 counties through out the Central Valley. We have 25 years of experience in providing comfort and support to thousands of families a year. Our house operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day with accountability toward giving our families the ability to focus their energy on getting their children well.

A LABOR OF LOVE
Through the combined efforts of the Junior League of Fresno and the
owner-operators of the Central Valley McDonald's® Restaurants, plus the generosity of the local community, the Central Valley Ronald McDonald House became the fourth in California. At that time, more than 60 House programs were in operation, with many more planned. The first House opened in Philadelphia in 1974. There are now nearly 205 Ronald McDonald House programs around the world.

 

A PLACE LIKE HOME
Our new House accommodates 18 families for a nominal fee. The fee is waived if a family is unable to pay. A manager is always on duty to oversee the daily operation of the House. Guests maintain their own room, can do their own cooking, laundry, and help with the chores of the House. Each family has a private bedroom, bath and closet. Common living areas provide laundry facilities, kitchen and dining, along with a library, game room, TV room and children's playroom. There is also an outdoor play area to enjoy. The comfort of home is only steps away from the Children's Hospital.

 
AND IT NEEDS YOU
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Central Valley is a non-profit organization whose board of directors is composed of community volunteers. While the Central Valley McDonald's® owners-operators assist in promoting volunteer efforts, fundraising and gifts in-kind for the House, the major portion of funding for daily operation must come from communities throughout.
