It started with “the House that Love Built”®. The first Ronald McDonald® was opened in Philadelphia in 1974; to meet the needs of families who had no place to stay while their child was hospitalized. Due to the overwhelming success of Ronald McDonald Houses nationwide, Ronald McDonald House Charities was formed in 1984, to meet a broader base of children’s needs. Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Central Valley, Inc. began in 1984 with a Ronald McDonald House built in Central Fresno. On February 14, 2001 the current Central Valley Ronald McDonald House opened next to Children’s Hospital Central California in order to remain close to the hospital and effective for families.
